Production is underway in Halifax on the lastest sci-fi film from Cut/Off/Tail Productions, Tin Can.

The third feature from writer/director Seth Smith, writer Darcy Spidle and producer Nancy Urich, Tin Can follows a parasitologist who wakes up in a locked cryopreservation chamber. Production on the feature is set to wrap this April, with the film targeted to hit the festival circuit this winter. Currently, there is no distributor attached to Tin Can.

Rob Cotterill, who serves as a supervising producer on Brandon Cronenberg’s upcoming feature Possessor, is a exec producer on Tin Can. In addition, Cronenberg consulted on the film’s script.

Previously, the trio’s second feature, The Crescent, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. According to producer Urich, it was the team’s time at TIFF that led to them meeting Cronenberg. 

Tin Can received financial assistance from the Government of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Film & Television Production Incentive Fund. The feature stars Anna Hopkins, Simon Mutabazi and Michael Ironside.
