Montreal: Halifax-based telecommunications company mtt has filed an application with the crtc for a licence to distribute interactive television services in the Halifax region.
mtt says it intends to offer high-resolution digital television to customers in metro Halifax using an upgraded version of the broadband system currently used for mtt’s m-powered service. mtt expects to launch its dtv service in late 2000.
‘Delivering dtv puts us firmly into the entertainment industry,’ says Wendy Paquette, mtt’s president. Eventually, Paquette says mtt can become the single source for all the region’s electronic communication needs, including telephone,
e-mail, Internet and interactive tv.
mtt is a wholly owned subsidiary of Aliant (www.aliant.ca.
