CanWest picks up more Largo Winch

Montreal: Motion International has announced it will produce 16 additional hours of the high-finance intrigue Largo Winch, bringing total production to 26 hours. The new hours are budgeted at $22.5 million, with Motion’s share at $15. 7 million.

Motion also announced the series has just been picked up in Canada by the Global Television Network.

Filming on the initial 10 hours and the new episodes moves to Paris later this month, returning to Montreal this fall.

Largo Winch is an English-track Canada/France coproduction with Dupuis Films, a subsidiary of Editions Dupuis, publisher of the Largo Winch comic book series.

The show was developed by Montreal-based Mediatoon, a Dupuis affiliate, and is produced in association with M6 in France, Betafilm and Tandem Communications in Germany, A.T. Production with rtl-tvi in Belgium and Paramount International Pictures in the u.s.

Motion says the deal for 16 new hours emerged following talks with international broadcasters at last month’s natpe program market in New Orleans.
