* Wayne Sterloff is the new president of A-Channel. Sterloff’s resume includes jobs as the former head of Western Canadian independent production for the CTV Network and president of British Columbia Film.
* Longtime cbc reporter and radio, tv and parliamentary producer Renaud Gilbert has been appointed ombudsman for the corporation’s French-language broadcast services. Gilbert was most recently director of Reseau de l’information. He replaces the late Marcel Pepin.
Gilbert has authority for all French-language radio and tv including Radio-Canada, specialty news channel rdi and various src websites. The appointment is effective March 1.
* Former sodec manager Michel Fortier has joined international French-language specialty channel TV5 as vp, administration and finance. Former sodec president Pierre Lampron is president of TV5 for the Americas.
* After 18 years at tvontario, managing director of English programming services Don Duprey has left. Wally Longul, director of business development and international relations, is acting in Duprey’s place until a replacement is found.
* Joel Darling has been named exec producer of major games and special events, CBC Sports. Formerly senior exec producer of CBC Sports, Darling’s first task in his new position will be the production of the 2000 Sydney Olympics coverage.
