Almost six weeks ahead of schedule, Shaw Communications and GT Group Telecom have completed their $760-million transaction that merges Shaw FiberLink with gt to form one of Canada’s largest, independent facilities-based clecs (Competitive Local Exchange Carriers).

Under the terms of the transaction, Shaw receives $360 million in cash and approximately 28% fully diluted interest in the outstanding equity of the new entity.

Shaw has also announced the appointment of Mike Abram as president of Shaw Ventures.

Often outrageous and always funny British actress Tracey Ullman is the winner of this year’s Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Network Award. Ullman will receive her prize at the Banff Television Festival Rockie Awards Gala, June 12.
