Montreal: New production from Motion International’s live-action youth division includes The Magical Kitchen, an informative father-daughter cooking show licensed by tvontario. Also on tap for Motion is a fully financed 15-minute preschool series called Rockabye Bubble, developed at the company’s Toronto office, also licensed to tvo and sold to distrib gmtv in the u.k.
Senior vp Michel Lavoie says the company has two new drama series in development aimed at the international market. Third Eye is a docudramatic, Blair Witch-style spooker for tweens and young teens, with interest from ytv; and Miranda is a big-budget special-effects film series starring a young female teen with magical powers. It’s in development with Family Channel.
‘We’ve proven that we’re good at magazines [Popular Mechanics for Kids],’ says Lavoie. ‘Now our big challenge is drama.’
