LOS ANGELES — Lance Acord, DOP of Where the Wild Things Are, talks about creating the look of the ‘real world’ in the fantastical Spike Jonze film. (See yesterday’s Acord video.)

‘Oftentimes in films like this the way home life is portrayed has a storybook feel,’ says Jonze, on stage at the recent HD Expo. ‘I wanted the home life to feel as real as possible. So the lighting setups were pretty minimal, we used a lot of practicals.’
