Montreal: Cite-Amerique International is actively looking to build its Canadian and international sales catalogue. The distrib’s vp Pascale Hebert is attending the Banff Television Festival, June 11-16, where she says Cite-Amerique will offer distribution advances against Canadian and international sales rights on new drama production and projects in development. Greg Dummett, head of English production at Cite-Amerique, will also be present.
Cite-Amerique International holds international sales rights to the $14-million, eight-hour historical drama Random Passage, a coproduction with Passage Films of St. John’s, Nfld., under the direction of John N. Smith; and the six-hour miniseries Dice, a Canada/u.k. coproduction, also from Cite-Amerique, slated to shoot this fall and licensed in Canada by TMN-The Movie Network and Showcase. Dice will be directed by Andy Wilson, director of the critically acclaimed British crime series Cracker. The concept for the tv miniseries is derived from the best-selling book The Diceman.
Hebert says Cite-Amerique is building a high-quality product catalogue. ‘[Directors] like John N. Smith (The Boys of St. Vincent) and Andy Wilson know what they’re doing.’
Hebert has completed several presales to Eastern Europe for Random Passage. It started location filming in Newfoundland and Ireland on May 23. Leo Rice-Barker
