Vancouver: EnterCor Entertainment has signed a coproduction development deal with Johannesburg-based Sasani, a diversified entertainment company that provided production services for the Kim Basinger film I Dreamed of Africa.
Vancouver-based EnterCor, founded in September by emigrants from South Africa, will represent Sasani to producers, entertainment corporations, production financiers and broadcasters in North America. Sasani will invest in EnterCor productions as part of the agreement.
‘We are excited by our affiliation with Sasani,’ says EnterCor ceo Lee Johnson, a veteran of the advertising business. ‘We now offer a one-stop resource for North American film and television production companies to take advantage of the outstanding locations and weather in southern Africa, and to capitalize on the excellent skills and facilities base offered by the Sasani Group.’
The Canada-South Africa Co-production Treaty and the weak South African currency are other incentives to take production work to South Africa, says EnterCor.
Among the projects under consideration as part of the Sasani-EnterCor agreement are the live-action tv series Castaway Island, the animated feature Jack and the Beanstalk and a 3D animation tv special called Enamelot.
On its own, EnterCor is specializing in non-violent children’s programming, including Balltown, a 26-part animated children’s series teaching values and important life skills to children.
EnterCor is listed on the Canadian Venture Exchange and Sasani is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
