Weber’s Revisited snags Shavick

Vancouver: Director Scott Weber was given the $10,000 first prize at the 2000 Shavick Awards for his 24-minute short film Revisited, a drama about a six-year-old girl who discovers a spirit alive in her grandmother’s house.

The Shavick Awards, in its second year, recognize excellence in film direction in Western Canada.

The $5,000 second prize went to Coreen Mayr’s 28-minute short A Feeling Called Glory, about a quirky summer friendship between two girls coping with loss.

The $2,000 third prize went to Aubrey Nealon for his 15-minute short Abe’s Manhood, about a 24-year-old man’s quest for manhood.

The inaugural Heritage Award for significant achievements by an individual working in the film industry in Western Canada was presented to Dianne Neufeld, former b.c. film commissioner and current instructor at the Professional Film Studies Program at Capilano College.
