We need info

Remember Playback’s Commercial Directions feature? It went away for a while and in its absence we received a number of missives asking, ‘Why, why, why have you taken Commercial Directions from us?’ Well fear not, you brave, patient souls. It’s back, and if we may say so, it is better.

The former Commercial Directions has now evolved into a regular On The Spot feature called Shots & Chasers. Faxes have been sent out already to let you all know the kind of information we require for submissions to the Shots & Chasers column. For those who didn’t receive a fax, the kind of info we require to best represent your jobs includes:

Production company

Executive producer

Director

Cinematographer

Client

Spot/campaign title

Agency

Agency producer

Art director

Copywriter

Creative director

Post house

Editor

Sound & music shop

Length of commercials

Initial air date

Number of days shooting (and possibly the dates)

Please submit, as well, any additional information required about the spot(s) and be sure to give all credit (ahem, properly spelled!) where it is due.

Submit this information as frequently as you can, and we’ll write it up. If you require a proper Shots & Chasers submission form, call Dave Lazar or Dustin Dinoff, On The Spot’s intrepid reporters, at (416) 408-2300.

Having said that . . .

Apple Box Productions’ golden boy Randy Diplock took a day out of his busy award show schedule to direct a 30-second Honda ‘Boater’ spot, with dop Marc LaLiberte-Else behind the lens. Clare ‘Cash’ Cashman executive produced for Apple Box.

The creative team for the spot was writer Page Tiberio and art director Chris Hall of Ambrose Carr Linton Carroll in Toronto, under the supervision of creative director Steve Conover and agency producer Tracy Azzopardi.

Grant Pye edited at Panic & Bob.

It’s a good start folks. Keep ’em coming.
