Christopher MacBride’s Education of Fredrick Fitzell underway in T.O.

The psychological thriller is produced by Lee Kim of Toronto's Resolute Films and Entertainment and financially backed by Telefilm and eOne.

Filming is underway in Toronto on psychological thriller The Education of Fredrick Fitzell, written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Christopher MacBride (The Conspiracy).

The feature is produced by Toronto’s Resolute Films and Entertainment in association with L.A.’s Addictive Pictures and London, U.K.-headquartered Trinity Media. It stars U.S. actor Dylan O’Brien (Maze Runner trilogy) as a man who, after a chance meeting with a person from his past, begins to have terrifying flashbacks that send him on a journey to solve a long-forgotten mystery. Filming wraps in late October.

Lee Kim (Our HouseThe Conspiracy, Operation Avalanche) will produce for Resolute Films, with Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder of Addictive Pictures executive producing.

The film is financially backed by Telefilm, Bank Hapoalim B.M. and eOne. London-based finance, production and sales company Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales, with Endeavor Content handling North America.

Also joining the cast are Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), Hannah Gross (The Sinner), Keir Gilchrist (It Follows) and Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale), alongside the previously announced Maika Monroe (Greta).

MacBride’s debut feature The Conspiracy, also produced by Resolute Films, was picked up for U.S. distribution by XLrator Media. MacBride previously sold his original sci-fi concept Echo to 21 Laps and 20th Century Fox, with George Clooney now attached to direct the project. In addition, his sci-fi thriller pitch Amnesia, which is based on the Arcana comic book series of the same name, has been sold to Sony, with FilmNation producing.
