AAC, Viacom partner with Coppola

Alliance Atlantis and Viacom Productions have inked an exclusive television development deal with Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope.

aac has a entered a two-year exclusive development deal with the Oscar-winning producer’s company to create and develop films and miniseries for television, while Viacom has signed a one-year exclusive deal to produce series television.

Founded by Coppola in 1969, American Zoetrope’s credits include the Emmy-Award winning tv epics The Odyssey and Moby Dick, and such tv series as First Wave and The Outsiders (adapted from the book and feature film). Film credits include Outrage (starring Rob Lowe) and Dark Angel (starring Eric Roberts).

Based in aac’s Santa Monica offices, American Zoetrope is helmed by senior vp, head of television Tara McCann, who will be working closely with Viacom’s senior vp, creative affairs, Michele Conklin and Ed Gernon, exec vp, movies and miniseries, Alliance Atlantis Television Production. –
