WHISTLER — Ivan Reitman looks back on his early days and ahead to the awards prospects of Up in the Air upon taking the lifetime achievement award at the Whistler Film Festival.

‘I knew I wanted to do something creative,’ says Reitman, ‘but I didn’t really know there was a job of film director… In Toronto in the late ’60s there was no sense that you could make a living at it. My dream was that possibly I’d get hired by the CBC.’
