CBC has renewed Frantic Films’ all-female sketch comedy series Baroness von Sketch Show for a fourth season, ahead of its season three premiere.
Greenlit for an additional 10, half-hour episodes, season four will begin production in Toronto this September, with a launch on the pubcaster set for 2019. IFC in the U.S. has also picked up season four.
Created by and starring exec producers Carolyn Taylor, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne and Jennifer Whalen, the single-camera comedy satirizes the banalities and absurdities of modern life. Frantic CEO Jamie Brown also serves as an exec producer.
Season three will premiere on CBC and its TV streaming app on Sept. 18 at 9 p.m. It will air on IFC in the U.S. beginning Nov. 8 at 9 p.m.
Since launching in 2016, Baroness von Sketch Show has picked up six Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Sketch Comedy Program or Series in 2017 and 2018, and Best Performance, Sketch Comedy (2018) for the ensemble.
