Playback brings some of North America’s top deal-makers together at its second annual financing conference, Creative Financing: Cutting the Deal for Film, TV & New Media, designed to illuminate the latest financing trends, outlets and alternatives in the international market.
Kicking off Nov. 27 in Santa Monica, California, the two-day event opens up with International Partnerships: Raising Capital in Foreign Market, a seminar on taking advantage of tax incentives and credits in Canada and Europe, as well as how to use German partners to raise public funding.
Going Public looks at the ins and outs of taking an entertainment company public. The Deal Makers examines the increasingly prevalent role of the agent as deal broker.
The Role of the Internet explores the programming, marketing and financial opportunities of the Internet platform. Venture Capital looks at the types of companies that attract venture capitalists involved in the entertainment sector and provides advice on approaching venture capital players. The Anatomy of a Deal provides case studies of some successful creatively financed productions. Presales, deferrals, tax credits and incentives, equity partners, gap financing and off-balance sheet financing will be examined as producers share their experiences.
Other case studies are presented in Overcoming Domestic Distribution and Marketing Costs, where innovative distribution deals and creative marketing campaigns using the Internet are explored.
Valuation of Public Entertainment Companies focuses on how entertainment companies are valued by investment firms and the value that is placed on libraries, content/rights ownership, licensing rights and senior executive teams.
Finally, two roundtable discussions give an opportunity for attendees to meet and chat with some of North America’s leading financing executives.
