Projects from Rezolution Pictures, 90th Parallel Productions and White Pine Pictures are among those receiving funding through the Canada Media Fund’s English Point of View program.

The CMF announced it will invest $5.5 million across 14 convergent projects in its latest round of POV funding.

Rezolution Pictures’ Red Fever, a doc exploring the world’s fascination for all things Native American, received $414,532. Meanwhile, Inconvenient Indian, produced by 90th Parallel and directed by Michelle Latimer (Rise), received $400,000 and $77,100 for its digital media component. The doc follows Indigenous intellectual and best-selling author Thomas King as he recounts the history of Native People in North America.

White Pine Pictures’ Margaret Atwood: Mischievous Encounters received $400,000. The doc follows Atwood and Graeme Gibson as they travel across the world, offering a window into the issues that matter to them. Saloon Media’s 9/11 Kids, about growing up in America after the World Trade Center attacks, also received $400,000, as well as $79,200 for its digital media component.

Other big funding recipients include Wreckhouse Productions’ Atlantic First Flight ($400,000; digital media: $76,313); Ferocious Films’ Betrayal ($400,000; digital media: $88,579); The Walrus Whisperer ($360,800; digital media: $82,500); Sunday Night Entertainment’s Drive: The Documentary ($375,467; digital media: $81,155); Tortuga Films’ The Fence ($361,686; digital media: $78,750); and EyeSteel Film’s The Internet of Everything ($343,000; digital media: $84,000).

The CMF also awarded $292,937 to Infield Fly Productions’ Saving The Greatest Horse Ever Designed, and $82,500 to its digital media component, while YAP Films’ Trans Warrior Doctor digital media component received $200,000 and $38,442 for its linear component.

The final projects to receive funding are Beauty Warriors ($165,500; digital media: $86,250) and Arkar Films’ The Man I Left Behind ($131,289).
