Knightscove Media has named former YTV exec Dale Taylor as president of the recently acquired Kidmazing channel, now known as KnightTV. The appointment is effective immediately.
Taylor will focus on expanding KnightTV’s slate of children’s fare to include more co-viewing content. Recently, he has worked as a media advisor to outfits such as Bite TV, and also served on the board of the Canadian Television Fund in 2007/08. In the ’90s, Taylor was VP of programming and production at YTV, where he commissioned shows including Goosebumps, Comfy Couch and Are You Afraid of the Dark?
‘Dale has a unique understanding and vision for the programming, commissioning and branding of family friendly content which was effectively demonstrated in his role at YTV,’ said Knightscove president Leif Bristow.
Knightscove last week acquired a majority stake in Kidmazing, in a deal with Los Angeles-based Studio 4 Networks. The on-demand service specializes in pre-school and children’s programming, and is currently available in 10 million households in the U.S. and Canada via VOD distributors including Cox, Charter, Dish and Shaw.
The Toronto company is in talks with other Canuck distributors to carry KnightTV, according to Bristow.
