Los Angeles-based visual effects company Mr. Wolf has opened a new studio in Vancouver.
The company has appointed Chad Cortvriendt (pictured) to head up the Vancouver studio as executive producer. Cortvriendt joins Mr. Wolf from Zoic Studios, Vancouver where he served as senior VFX producer on The 100. He has 10 years experience in VFX, having previously served as a producer at FuseFX, Gener8 Digital Media and Prime Focus World. His credits include Dark Matter, Suicide Squad and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
In his new role, Cortvriendt will lead a team of artists creating visual effects for season three of Syfy’s Channel Zero, which films in Winnipeg. Mr. Wolf provided visual effects services for the first two seasons of Channel Zero through its New York location. With season three, it assumed the role of lead visual effects supplier on the series.
Mr. Wolf exec producer Mike Pryor said in a statement that the company intends to to take advantage of the surplus of film and TV production in B.C.
“There is a lot of film and television production in British Columbia and a lot of visual effects talent that we can develop our business around,” he said.
