Toronto’s Syndicado has signed a U.S. digital distribution rights deal with Quebec-based Filmoption International for 30 hours of factual content.

Syndicado has picked up the one-hour doc American Tiger, which explores the relationship between human and beast in the context of the 21st century wild tiger crisis, as well as Avoiding Apocalypse (6 x 60 minutes), which details how scientists are developing technology to deal with catastrophic environmental issues.

The deal also includes tourism series The Joy of Discovery (13 x 60 minutes), which originally aired on Discovery, and factual films Two of a Kind (about identical twins) and The Antibiotic Hunters (about scientists discovering exotic bacteria), both of which aired as episodes on CBC’s The Nature of Things. 

The deal with Filmoption follows Syndicado’s recent deal to acquire seven films from British director Tony Palmer and Isolde Films, including the Leonard Cohen doc Bird on a Wire.
