It was a night of celebration for Insight Productions, with the Toronto prodco taking home two Canadian Screen Awards for the Amazing Race Canada, including best reality series.
While collecting the Golden Screen Award for the series, Insight chairman and CEO John Brunton used the moment to thank his sister and Insight COO and president, Barbara Bowlby (pictured, right), who he revealed will step down later this summer after 38 years with the company. Bowlby will remain a shareholder in the company.
Brunton praised Bowlby for having led the company with integrity and honesty for nearly four decades, adding that she’s “been a part of literally a few thousands of hours of television.”
Bowlby joined Insight in 1984, helping to build the Top Chef Canada prodco. As president and COO, Bowlby has been responsible for the company’s long-term strategic planning and international business development. She also served as an executive producer on Insight’s productions. Brunton told Playback Daily Insight will promote a replacement from within the company, though no announcements have yet been named.
Insight found another breakout success this year with The Launch. Insight produced the singing competition series with Bell Media, Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group and California-based Eureka. Insight’s Brunton and Lindsay Cox exec produced.
