Celluloid Dreams takes Death of a Ladies’ Man

The Paris, France-based distributor has acquired world sales rights to the upcoming Canada/Ireland copro from director Matt Bissonnette.

Paris, France-based producer/distributor Celluloid Dreams has acquired world sales rights to Matt Bissonnette’s Death of a Ladies’ Man. 

The Canada/Ireland copro is produced by Corey Marr Productions’ Corey Marr (Passenger Side), MCP Productions’ Marie-Claude Poulin (Brooklyn) and Martina Niland (Sing Street) of Dublin’s Cosmo Films. 

The film, which stars Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects) and Antoine Olivier Pilon (Mommy), will be directed by Bissonnette from his own script. It follows a womanizing, alcoholic, university poetry professor who begins to see strange things. The film, which was inspired by the work of Leonard Cohen, will feature his music and poetry.

Production is set to begin in Montreal and the west-coast of Ireland in the summer.

The film is made with the support of Monte Rosso Productions, the Harold Greenberg Fund, TMN, and the CBC.

Mongrel Media is distributing the film in Canada, with Element Pictures on board for Ireland.
