E1 Entertainment has linked with Summit Entertainment and writer David Hayter on Push, a sci-fi series based on the 2009 movie. The companies on Tuesday revealed plans to develop and produce a Push series, with Hayter (Watchmen, X-Men 2) set to write the pilot.
Hayter’s Dark Hero Studios will produce with E1 — with Hayter and partner Benedict Carver executive producing along with Noreen Halpern and John Morayniss of E1.
‘This is one of those ‘perfect fit’ moments,’ said Morayniss in a release. ‘David Hayter’s work on Watchmen gives him super-hero status on the sci-fi front, and instantly ensures that Push gets the right kind of attention.’
Summit, E1 and Dark Hero are said to be in talks with U.S. broadcasters on the series. E1 will handle TV sales in Canada as well as home entertainment and broadcasting rights in Canada, the U.K. and Benelux.
The movie, produced by Summit and B.C.’s Infinity Features, followed a trio of super-powered young secret agents at odds with a shadowy government agency. It starred Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning.
E1 has since 2007 had an all-rights multi-territory deal to distribute Summit product in Canada.
