* Craig Merritt has been appointed Alliance Atlantis Communications’ new senior VP, business operations, television production.

Merritt joined the company in 1995 as controller in television production and most recently held the position of VP, business operations, television production.

* Peter Miller has been promoted to the newly created position of VP, planning and regulatory affairs, for Chum Television.

Miller, Chum’s former VP of business and regulatory affairs, joined the company in 1998 from the Canadian Association of Broadcasters.

* Sylvie Cote has resigned her post as director, general programs with TVA Group and joined Astral Media technology and sci-fi specialty channel Z as its new VP programming.

* Jane Chalmers, former regional director of CBC Television for the Prairies, has been appointed the pubcaster’s new director of current affairs and weekly programs.

Chalmers will be based in Winnipeg and Toronto.

* Allison Outhit has been appointed VP of development, production and business affairs for Collideascope Digital Productions in Halifax. Outhit is a former showrunner for Salter Street Films/AAC’s sci-fi series Lexx and director of business affairs for SSF.

* Brigitte Daigneault and Julie Fontaine, two senior colorists specialized in Pandora/Spirit image treatment, have joined Montreal film, TV and multimedia technical service provider Vision Globale.

* Michel Zgarka has been appointed executive VP in charge of international acquisitions at technical service and marketing company Omicron Media, Montreal. Zgarka will also be involved in providing Canadian production services including crewing, tax credit and coproduction certification.
