Toronto-based unscripted producer Big Coat Media has announced another senior hire.
Maria Farano has been named SVP of content at Big Coat, joining new additions SVP of development Frank Sutera and head of development Brooks Gray, both of whom joined the company in October. Both Sutera and Gray will report to Farano.
In the new role, Farano will oversee Big Coat’s slate of productions, including supervising series producers, overseeing creative and editorial teams and working with broadcasters. As head of the development team, she’ll be charged with creating a slate of projects for worldwide distribution on all platforms.
Farano most recently served as director and manager of original programming for lifestyle and factual entertainment at Corus, a position she held since 2011. In that role, she oversaw the development and production of series such as Big Coat’s Love It or List It Vancouver, as well as Masters of Flip and Undercover Boss Canada.
Prior to joining Corus, Farano was a production executive for Shaw Media’s Slice, TVTropolis, National Geographic and History Television.
