Toronto boutique prodco Rob Heydon Productions has added a VP of development to work on upcoming TV series and feature films.
Actor and writer Duane Murray, who officially began working with the company in a story editing and script consulting capacity last year, now officially joins the prodco, which first made its name with 2011’s Ecstasy. In the new role, Murray will continue to work on upcoming feature projects including The Wanting 2, The Babe and The Devil Knows Your Name, which are currently in casting.
CEO Rob Heydon told Playback Daily that the company needed to add to its team to handle its growing slate of work, which also includes preschool animated series Fox and Hare (52 x 11 minutes) for TFO in Canada. The Canada/Belgium/Netherlands copro, currently in preproduction, is being produced in partnership with Belgium’s Walking the Dog animation studio and Amsterdam-based prodco Submarine.
It’s also set to shoot the TV series Last Rituals in spring 2018. The series will air on CHCH in Canada, RUV in Iceland and Telemuchen in Germany. Scanbox is the distributor in Scandinavia. Sigurjon Sighvatsson (Beverly Hills 90210, Brothers) will coproduce the series. Heydon last collaborated with Sighvatsson on The Wanting. L.A.-based sales and distribution company will take the psychological thriller to AFM in November.
