Netflix has acquired world streaming rights to Banger Films’ Long Time Running, excluding Canada, the global SVOD has confirmed.
The feature documentary that follows The Tragically Hip on their final cross-Canada tour in 2016 premieres tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Bell Media commissioned the doc in November 2016 and will air as a special presentation on CTV on Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. The feature doc will then make its way to CraveTV on Nov. 13. Netflix will begin streaming the doc on Nov. 26.
Directed by Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier, Long Time Running is produced by Banger’s Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, in association with Shed Creative, a division of Universal Music Canada. Exec producers on the film are McFadyen, Dunn, Bell Media’s Randy Lennox, Bernie Breen, Patrick Sambrook, Jeffrey Remedios, Dave Harris, Naveen Prasad and Jeremy Smith.
Elevation Pictures is releasing the film theatrically in Canada beginning Sept. 14.
