Following the news that U.S. based Sony Pictures Television Networks had commissioned the TV drama Carter from Toronto’s Amaze Film + Television, Bell Media has acquired the hour-long series for Bravo and boarded the project as a production partner.

The 10-part detective procedural will air on Bravo in 2018 before heading to CraveTV. Internationally the show will air on Sony Pictures Television Networks’ international channels, including pay TV, satellite and cable channel AXN.

Filming began this week in North Bay, ON and is scheduled to wrap in mid October.

The show is written by Garry Campbell (Mad TV) and was developed with writer John Tinker (Chicago Hope).

Amaze Film + Television’s Victoria Hirst is producing the show. Executive producers are Amaze’s Teza Lawrence and Michael Souther. Canadian director Scott Smith (Skins) is directing the pilot episode.

Carter stars Jerry O’Connell as a detective on a hit U.S. TV show who is forced to return to his hometown after a public meltdown. Upon his return home, he goes on to become a real-life detective and later partners with a veteran of the local force played by Sydney Tamiia Poitier (Chicago P.D.). Newly announced additions to the cast are Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black), Sherry Miller (Bitten), and John Bourgeois (X-Men).
