Sony Pictures TV Networks commissions Carter

The detective procedural from Toronto's Amaze Film + Television will shoot in North Bay this summer.

Sony Pictures Television Networks has commissioned Carter, a new detective procedural from Toronto’s Amaze Film + Television.

The 10-episode, hour-long series is being created for Sony’s international channels, including pay TV, satellite and cable channel AXN.

Carter stars Jerry O’Connell (Billions) as a detective on a hit U.S. TV show who is forced to return to his hometown after a public meltdown. Once home, he becomes a real-life detective, partnering with a veteran of the local force played by Sydney Tamiia Poitier (Chicago P.D.).

Written and created by Garry Campbell (MADtv) and developed with writer John Tinker (Chicago Hope), Carter is executive produced by Amaze’s Teza Lawrence and Michael Souther (Call Me Fitz). Canadian director Scott Smith (Skins) will helm the pilot.

The series is set to begin production in July in North Bay, ON.

Amaze is handling Canadian distribution and Sony Pictures Television Distribution will handle U.S. and international sales.
