Quebecor Fund doles out $2.8M in production, development coin

The funder also added a TV format and concept development component in this latest round to support the creation of exportable Quebec-made series.

cashQuebecor has handed out $2.8 million through its Main Television Production Assistance Program (MPAP) to support production of seven projects and development of four.

For the first time, MPAP funding was distributed via two streams: the convergent production component ($1.81 million) and the newly added TV format and concept development component ($990,900). The latter was added to support the creation of formats and concepts that can be exported internationally.

In the convergent production component, Quebecor doled out funding to Attraction Images’ Silence on joue! (Radio-Canada), Echo Media’s Hello Charlie (TVO, TFO, Radio-Canada, Knowledge Network), season two of Productions Déferlantes’ La Voix Junior (TVA), Production Lustitia’s Expédition extrême (Z Télé, RDS), Les Productions Passez Go’s L’Académie (TVA) and the animated series Tshakapesh (APTN/ICI Radio-Canada). Quebecor does not disclose per-project funding.

In the TV format and concept development component, four production companies were selected to receive Quebecor investment: Entourage Télévision, Groupe PVP, Productions Pixcom and Le Grand jeu. The Quebecor Fund did not disclose the names of the projects.
