U.S. network Starz has acquired Toronto-based White Pine Pictures’ All Governments Lie: Truth, Deception and the Spirit of I.F. Stone.
The Fred Peabody-directed project also sold to ARTE (Germany), NHK (Japan) and YLE (Finland). All of the deals were handled by Quebec-based sales agent Films Transit.
Last year, New York distribution firm First Run Features acquired the DVD and VOD rights to the doc, following its world premiere at TIFF ’16. First Run released the film earlier this month on iTunes and DVD.
All Governments Lie follows investigative journalists Amy Goodman, Glenn Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill, Matt Taibbi and others as they expose government and corporate deception. The doc features interviews with notable journalists including Carl Bernstein, Noam Chomsky, David Corn, John Carlos Frey, Chris Hedges, Michael Moore, Ralph Nader, Jeremy Scahill, Matt Taibbi and Cenk Uygur.
Produced by Peter Raymont, Andrew Munger, and Steve Ord and executive produced by Oliver Stone, Jeff Cohen, Raymont and Ord, the doc was produced in association with Super Channel and Société Radio-Canada (SRC) and with the financial participation of the CMF and OMDC.
Super Channel and SRC are scheduled to air the doc during July, with Starz set to air it at a to-be-determined date later this year.
