Comet Entertainment partners with U.K. animation house Illuminated

Canada/U.K. coproduction Buddy and Elvis is slated to begin production later this year.

nuddy and elvisToronto’s Comet Entertainment is partnering with London, U.K.-based animation studio The Illuminated Film Company on the 2D animated project, Buddy and Elvis (52 x 11 minutes).

Based on the book series Have you seen Elvis? and It’s Showtime Elvis!, written by Andrew Murray and illustrated by Nicola Slater, the Canada/U.K. coproduction follows the adventures of two aliens as they disguise themselves as a cat and a dog and travel to earth. The show is aimed at five-to-11 year-old audiences.

Production is slated to begin this fall in Toronto and London, U.K., with work expected to last approximately 18 months. There are currently no broadcasters attached to the project. Producers on the project are Comet founder and CEO Raquel Benitez and Illuminated founder and CEO Iain Harvey.

Comet’s previous production credits include TV movie Santa vs. Claus and MTV Latin America series Wrappy Sex Police. Previous projects from Illuminated include the Little Princess series, which aired on the Channel 5 in the U.K.
