Scorsese tribute at World Film Festival

Montreal: The Montreal World Film Festival has announced a special tribute program in honor of American filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The tribute includes screenings of four of Scorsese’s films as well as four additional films by directors who have influenced his work, says WFF president Serge Losique.

‘We will be privileged by Mr. Scorsese’s presence,’ says Losique. ‘Not only is he the greatest American filmmaker of his generation, he belongs, in my opinion, in the pantheon of the seventh art’s most imaginative authors, along with Kurosawa, Welles, Bergman and Fellini.’ Scorsese, whose seminal works inlcude Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Cape Fear and Gangs of New York, is currently in Montreal shooting the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett and Kate Beckinsale.
