Bruce McDonald is chasing Hugh Dillon and other cast members of his 1996 punk-fuelled hit Hard Core Logo for the sequel.
McDonald and SaskFilm said Thursday that shooting on Hard Core Logo 2 got underway this week in Regina, produced by Rob Merilees (Stone of Destiny) of Foundation Features, Holly Baird of Trilight Entertainment and executive produced by Danni Chiasson and Christine Haebler.
The picture picks up 15 years after the original faux-doc with McDonald, as himself, sent to interview singer Care Failure (aka Caroline Kawa) of the real-life punk band Die Mannequin. Failure claims to be channeling the spirit of Hugh Dillon’s character from the first movie.
But whether the Flashpoint and Durham County star will appear remains uncertain. ‘Bruce is trying to reunite the original cast… but no one is confirmed,’ Baird tells Playback Daily. The sequel will also include clips from the first film, she notes, so the original cast will appear ‘one way or another.’ The original — said to be in the works in late 2008, to be followed by a third film.
