The amalgamation process, which will take place over the coming months, will see Paperny and Force Four’s operations folded under the eOne Television brand. The process is aimed at unifying eOne’s Canadian unscripted TV business, according to a statement announcing the move.

Cal Shumiatcher, EVP of Paperny Entertainment (pictured) since 2006, will lead the combined unscripted business and oversee the amalgamation process, while Force Four chief creative officer John Ritchie will also take on an still-to-be-determined leadership role within the new business.

Paperny co-founder and president, David Paperny, will exit on July 31, while co-founder and EVP, Audrey Mehler will leave within the coming days. Force Four COO Gillian Lowrey will stay on board for a transition period until April 1.

eOne purchased Vancouver-based Paperny in July 2014 for $29.2 million, with an aim to boost its unscripted and factual business. Paperny most recently produced This is High School and Chopped Canada, both of which picked up Canadian Screen Award nominations this week. eOne acquired Vancouver’s Force Four in August 2014. Force Four is the prodco behind the recent Keeping Canada Alive, which was also nominated for a 2017 CSA.

eOne’s Canadian unscripted business will continue to have offices in Vancouver and Toronto, with a satellite office in New York.
