They’re the man
Toronto: Samuel L. Jackson and local favorite Eugene Levy will be here next month for the eight-week shoot of The Man for New Line Cinema and director Les Mayfield (Blue Streak). Levy, who made New York Minute in Toronto last summer, plays a traveling salesman who stumbles into a second career as an ATF agent, partnered with Jackson. The $20-million pic shoots until mid-June at Cinespace. Armand Leo is production manager, working under producers Rob Fried and Bill Strauss. SD
Montreal’s toque
Montreal: Montreal is standing in for Philadelphia until March 29, when shooting wraps on The Wool Cap. Montreal-based Muse Entertainment is servicing the US$8-million MOW for Timeline Films. Director Steven Schachter (It Must be Love) cowrote the script with the film’s star, William H. Macy.
This Christmas dramedy is a remake of the 1962 Jackie Gleason film Gigot, about a mute superintendent (Macy) who ends up taking care of the young daughter (Lauren Palmer) of one of his tenants. Locations include the city’s Old Port area, Windsor Station and urban neighborhoods throughout Montreal.
David Rosemont is execute producing the Viacom/TNT show, while Muse producer Irene Litinsky heads the Montreal crew, including DOP Guy Dufaux and production designer Guy Lalande. The Wool Cap will air Christmas 2004.
