Production is underway in Winnipeg on Trench 11, a WWI-set thriller starring Rossif Sutherland.
The film is directed by Leo Scherman (Cock’d Gunns), who also wrote the script alongside Matthew Booi (Civil War Chronicles).
Toronto-based Carousel Pictures partnered with Buffalo Gal Pictures genre label, Insidious Pictures, for the project. Carousel Pictures’ Tyler Levine (Sundowners) will serve as producer, alongside executive producers Martin Katz (Maps to the Stars), Walter Gasparovic (Eastern Promises) and Phyllis Laing (The Forbidden Room). Isaac Clements will co-produce.
The film follows Sutherland (River) a Canadian tunneller who is sent behind enemy lines to find and destroy a biological weapon. Joining Sutherland on screen are Karine Vanasse (The Forbidden Room), Charlie Carrick (Reign), Shaun Benson (ARQ), and Ted Atherton (River). German actor Robert Stadlober (Summer Storm) also joins the cast.
The feature was made with the financial participation of Telefilm Canada, The Harold Greenberg Fund, Manitoba Film and Music and the Cogeco Fund.
Raven Banner Entertainment serves as an executive producer and holds the Canadian distribution and worldwide rights.
