Bitchin’ set for April

Web-turned-TV series Bitchin’ Kitchen will join Food Network Canada’s Thursday lineup on April 1, the specialty channel announced.

The spunky 13 x 30 series will have its TV premiere in the 11 p.m. timeslot and follows host Nadia G, the ‘anti-Rachael Ray,’ on a romp through her unconventional kitchen, which is decked out in pleather and animal print.

The series started out as online shorts and became popular on YouTube and iTunes before it was greenlit by Food Network last March. Bitchin’ Kitchen is produced by Toronto’s Tricon Films and Television (Restaurant Makeover, Cock’d Gunns).

‘This is new territory for us… it’s the first time Food Network Canada has invested in a web series; we loved what we saw online and were excited for the opportunity to translate that to a television series,’ commented director of original production Leslie Merklinger in a release.

During its premiere episode, entitled ‘Deflate Your Mate’, viewers can also participate in a live blogging event at footnetwork.ca with Nadia G and others.
