TMN, Channel 4 commission Pearl Harbor special

Montreal-based Handel Productions and London, U.K.-based Arrow Media will coproduce the documentary.

Bell Media’s The Movie Network and the U.K.’s Channel 4 have jointly commissioned a documentary special commemorating the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

Coproduced by Montreal-based Handel Productions and London, U.K.-based Arrow Media, Pearl Harbor: The Accused uses archive footage and reconstructions to examine who was to blame for the military strike on Dec. 7, 1941. No broadcast date has yet been announced.

The special is being released in conjunction with a new journalistic investigation book, A Matter of Honor, which uses newly found documents, letters and photos to presents the story of Pearl Harbor in a new light.

The producers at Handel and Arrow consulted with the book’s authors Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan while developing the special.

Handel Productions founder Alan Handel serves as executive producer alongside Arrow Media’s Ashley Pottertonon the project, which is directed by Christopher Spencer (Race for the White House).

In the U.K., the series is called Pearl Harbor: The Truth. Internationally the doc will be distributed by BBC Worldwide.
