Production is underway in Nova Scotia on six-part one-hour drama, Pure.

The series commissioned by the CBC,  slated to air in winter 2017, is produced by Nova Scotia-based Two East Production and Cineflix Media. Filming began in September in Windsor, Hants County and Dartmouth, N.S and will shoot until mid-November.

Pure, which is inspired by real-life events, follows a newly-elected Mennonite pastor working to rid his community of drug traffickers, but whose efforts ultimately land him in trouble with the mob.

Ryan Robbins (Arrow, Continuum) stars as pastor Noah Funk. He’s joined on screen by Alex Paxton-Beesley (Murdoch Mysteries, Copper), AJ Buckley (CSI: NY, Justified), Peter Outerbridge (Orphan Black, Bomb Girls) and Rosie Perez (White Men Can’t Jump, Fearless).

The show was created and written by Michael Amo, creator of the long-running drama The Listener, which ended after five seasons in 2014. Pure is directed by Ken Girotti (Orphan Black, Vikings). Executive producers on the series are Amo, Girotti, Brett Burlock, Peter Emerson and David MacLeod.

Cineflix Rights has the exclusive worldwide distribution rights to Pure.
