Montreal film tackles child abuse
Montreal – Denise Robert and Daniel Louis of Montreal prodco Cinemaginaire are nearing completion of principal photography on Aurore, a feature film from director Luc Dionne.
Shooting started in and around Montreal on Oct. 15 and will wrap Dec. 6. The $7-million pic, produced with funds from Telefilm Canada, the CTF, SODEC and Radio-Canada, tells the story of Aurore Gagnon, a young girl who dies at age 11 due to the abuse she suffered at the hands of her stepmother.
The cast includes Marianne Fortier, Serge Postigo, Stephanie Lapointe, Helene Bourgeois Leclerc, Yves Jacques and Remy Girard. Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm is distributing. Laura Bracken
Sans Elle heads to Italy
Montreal – Christian Larouche, Pierre Gendron and Carole Vaillancourt are nearing the final stretch of principal photography on Sans Elle, a feature film produced and distributed by Montreal-based Christal Films. Jean Beaudin directs the $6-million feature, produced with cash from Telefilm Canada and SODEC.
Karine Vanasse and Michel Dumont star in the story of a young girl’s search for her mother. The bulk of principal photography, which started Sept. 20 and will wrap towards the end of December, took place at Iles de la Madeleine in Quebec, with an additional 15 days shooting to take place in Italy next month. Sophomore feature for Trogi, Pearson and Robitaille
Montreal – Director/writer Ricardo Trogi and writers Jean-Philippe Pearson and Patrice Robitaille, the creative team behind Quebec-Montreal, are working together again on a new feature, L’horloge biologique, about three male friends, one a new father and two who aren’t quite ready for parenthood yet, despite considerable pressure from their thirtysomething girlfriends. Nicole Robert of Go Films produces.
Pearson and Robitaille also star along with Pierre-Francios Legendre, Julie Perreault, Catherine Proulx-Lemay and Genevieve Alarie. The feature shot Oct. 5 to Nov. 15 in and around Montreal. Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm will distribute domestically, with Les Films Seville handling international sales. Additional funding comes from Telefilm Canada, SODEC, the CTF, The Harold Greenberg Fund and Radio-Canada. L’horloge biologique will hit theaters next summer. Laura Bracken
