Gods’ countries

Toronto – VisionTV International has paired with Ireland’s Tile Films to shoot a prestige 6 x 30 doc series, The Lost Gods, under the Ireland-Canada coproduction treaty. The HD doc is the first to be shot under the treaty, in place since 1989, and will location hop between Europe, the Americas and Africa throughout 2005, looking into the religious beliefs of the Egyptians, the Maya, the Celts and other ancient cultures.

The series will shoot in English, Welsh and Gaelic, produced and directed by doc-maker and Tile principal Stephen Rooke (Waterways) – its $1-million budget backed by Ireland’s TG4, VisionTV and VisionTV International, S4C in Wales and S4C International, and the European Media Fund. Presales are also in place in Switzerland and Finland.

Following shoots in Peru and Egypt, The Lost Gods will film across the Americas and the Middle East this year, looking to air on Vision by fall. Distribution in Canada and the U.S. is being handled by VisionTV International, the remaining world sales by S4C International. Sean Davidson
