Sandra Desrosiers Karr joins Brightlight C-suite

The former Telefilm exec joins the Vancouver company as it brings its latest film, Colossal, to TIFF.

sandra karrVancouver’s Brightlight Pictures has hired longtime Telefilm Canada exec Sandra Desrosiers Karr as its new chief operating officer.

Desrosiers Karr served as director of national business affairs at Telefilm from 2007 until July of this year. In the role, she led a team responsible for all business affairs aspects of the agency’s project financing and coproduction certification.

As COO of Brightlight, Desrosiers Karr will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company.

Earlier this year, Brightlight inked a joint venture deal with MVP Entertainment to build proprietary content, and in October of last year, the company signed a five-film sales agency deal with L.A.’s Voltage Pictures.

The first film out of that deal, Colossal, will have its world bow at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Canada/Spain coproduction is produced by Brightlight Pictures’ Shawn Williamson and Nahikari Ipiña of Sayaka Productions.
