The Harold Greenberg Fund (HGF) has appointed actress and producer Jennifer Podemski to its board of directors.

She joins the funder ahead of HGF’s upcoming Script Development Program round, for which the recipients will be chosen later this fall.

Podemski replaces the outgoing Melanie Friesen, and joins Suzette Couture, John Galway, Damon D’Oliveira, Corrie Coe, Jane Tattersall and Richie Mehta on the board.

“Jennifer is an absolutely fantastic storyteller, whose fresh voice will greatly benefit the Fund and Canada’s immensely talented filmmaking community,” said HGF’s co-chair Suzette Couture in a statement.

Podemski is the founder of Toronto-based prodco Redcloud Studios, which produced 2015 feature film Empire of Dirt. In front of the camera, Podemski’s credits include Sarah Polley’s Take This Waltz, Bruce McDonald’s Dance Me Outside and HBO Canada’s Sensitive Skin, produced by Rhombus Media and Baby Cow Productions.

Earlier this year, she received the Toronto ACTRA Women’s Committee’s Nell Shipman award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in advancing gender parity in the industry.
