Benefit for DOP Walker
There will be a fundraiser April 5 in Toronto for veteran director of photography Peter Walker. Walker, a top documentary lenser, has shot such films as Allan King’s Dying at Grace, Murray Battle’s Man Overboard and Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media by Mark Achbar and Peter Wintonick. He has had to take a hiatus from working, however, as he continues a three-year struggle with cancer.
Walker’s most recent project is King’s latest, Dementia, clips of which will be screened at the benefit along with segments from past projects. The event, set to kick off at 7 p.m. at the University of Toronto’s Innis College, will be emceed by Ian Brown (host of TVO’s The View from Here and writer of Man Overboard) and will feature live music from folk combo The Don Valley Boyz.
All proceeds will go directly to the Walker family. Ticket information is available at www.allankingfilms.com.
