NSI names inaugural Business for Producers participants

The program aims to help Western Canadian production companies grow their business.

shutterstock_list_graph_businessThe National Screen Institute has announced the participants for its first-ever NSI Business for Producers training program.

The program, which is supported by presenting sponsor On Screen Manitoba, aims to help Western Canadian TV, film and digital media producers who operate small to medium-sized companies, grow their businesses.

In total, nine producers were chosen to participate in the program, which includes  four web seminars, two boot camps and regular consultations with industry experts. RTR Media’s director of business affairs and digital strategy, Brigitte Sachse, serves as the program’s advisor.

From Manitoba, Wookey Films’ Janelle Wookey will participate in the program, along with Chris McIvor of Frank Digital, Carlyle Paetkau of Build Films and Orlando Braun of Prairie Boy Productions.

The Alberta-based participants chosen for the program are Frederick Kroetsch of Open Sky Pictures, Eric Rebalkin of Mosaic Entertainment and Spencer Estabrooks of Insurrection Films.

From Saskatchewan, Dawn Bird of B.E.Zee Productions and Lioz Bouganin of Landslide Entertainment will also participate.

The participants were all nominated by provincial industry associations.
