James Haggarty has been appointed the new president and CEO of Sim Group, the production service company founded by Rob Sim 34 years ago.
Sim will remain with the company, acting as vice chairman, but will “step back from the heavy lifting of running the company,” he said in a statement.
As its new president and CEO, Haggarty will focus on continuing to grow the company. In the past several years Sim Group has completed several mergers and acquisitions, including the 2015 mergers with New York City-based Post Factory NY and Toronto-based Tattersall Sound & Picture.
Haggarty was most recently managing director at tech investment management firm Gibraltar & Co, where he focused on M&A and business development. Prior to that, he was CEO of Shop.ca. Haggarty also has extensive experience in media, having served as EVP television operations at Rogers Broadcasting, VP financial operations at Rogers Media, and VP corporate development and VP operations at Corus Entertainment.
“Jamie is an accomplished executive with leadership experience in technology, traditional media, digital media, sports and entertainment,” said Jeffrey Cairns, chairman of the board, in a statement. “We are confident in Jamie’s abilities to lead this organization during this dynamic time for all parties in the creation and distribution of content.”
Haggarty will take over as president and CEO on May 16.
