Toronto-based distributor Elevation Pictures has inked a multi-year cofinancing agreement with Europe-based investment company Anton Corp.
The deal will see Anton provide slate financing for Elevation titles such as Garry Marshall’s Mother’s Day, Gary Ross’ Free State of Jones and Oliver Stone’s Snowden.
Anton will also cofinance future acquisitions made by Elevation on a title-by-title basis, with both companies headed to Cannes for the film festival. Though it is Elevation’s current mandate to make between 20 and 25 acquisitions each year, Anton will only be involved with certain projects.
Anton Corp. was founded by Sébastien Raybaud in 2011 and the company has a similarly structured cofinancing agreement with France’s StudioCanal. Earlier this year, the former president of eOne Films International, Harold van Lier, joined Anton as a partner. Lier departed eOne in January 2015, after the company consolidated its international sales and film production arms.
Elevation currently has output deals with U.S. indie distributor Bleecker Street, L.A.-based prodco Bold Films and Black Bear Pictures.
