Shaw Media has commissioned a new original Mike Holmes series for its HGTV Canada specialty channel, featuring the contractor and his son, Mike Holmes Jr (MJ).

Holmes and Holmes will follow the father and son duo as they renovate MJ’s bachelor bungalow into a first home for the younger Holmes and his girlfriend. Production is currently underway on six, hour-long episodes, which will bow on HGTV Canada this fall. The series is produced by The Holmes Group, in association with Shaw Media. The series will be shot in Mississauga, ON.

In July of last year, HGTV Canada announced it had acquired another Holmes-focused series, Home Free. That series is produced by Beverly Hills-based Relativity Television, and will air on Fox in the U.S.  Holmes and his son are also slated to appear on Shaw Media original series Home to Win along with a number of other HGTV Canada talent, including Scott McGillivray, Bryan Baeumler and Paul Lafrance.

Other television series across the Holmes franchise include Holmes Makes it Right, Holmes Inspection, Holmes on Homes and Best of Holmes on Homes. Specials under the Holmes brand include Mike Holmes: Behind the Overalls, Holmes in New Orleans, Lien on Me and Mike’s Ultimate Garage.
