DHX Media announces pre-MIPTV greenlights

The company's in-house studio has sold new shows to YTV and DHX Television's Family Jr., plus a new season of a classic franchise is reupped at Teletoon.

DHX Media has announced commissions for a pair of new series – 3D preschool series Space Ranger Roger and 2D animation Chuck’s Choice – as well as a second season of Inspector Gadget ahead of next week’s MIPTV.

Space Ranger Roger (13 x 30 minutes), created by Jeff Rosen (Animal Mechanicals, Bo On the GO), has been commissioned by Family Jr. in Canada. The preschool series about an alien hero who travels to earth to help people in need is produced out of the DHX’s studio in Halifax.

Produced out of the same studio is Inspector Gadget season two (26 x 30 minutes), which finds Gadget, his niece Penny and their dog Brian continue to battle Dr. Claw and his nephew Talon. The second season of the rebooted series has already been commissioned in Canada by Teletoon. The first season of the show was previously picked up by Turner Broadcasting for its Boomerang channels across EMEA, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

Chuck’s Choice (40 x 11 minutes), directed by Rob Boutilier (Kid vs. Kat), has been commissioned in Canada by YTV, as well as licensed to Turner Broadcasting France. The show is currently in production in DHX’s Vancouver studio and tells the story of 10-year-old Chuck McFarlane, who owns a device allowing him to choose his next adventure.
